Close Encounters of the Third Kind

It wasn't planned. We didn't even go looking for this. Video proof does exist, but it truly doesn't capture the full experience and some skeptics will say, "That's fake!". I swear on my children' lives, it's all true.

On the afternoon of June 11th, we had a very close encounter with the third kind. It probed the whole family and started with me. It analyzed us from all directions and only saw food. The middle child was a particularly tasty treat for this beast. Loren did his best at urging me to get rid of this creature invading our personal space. I was valiant in my efforts and pushed with all my might. The camel was gone. Oh yeah, it was a camel. What did you think I was talking about?

You would be surprised how long and agile a camel's neck is. Those things have a nose for food and are surprisingly strong for docile looking creatures. I wouldn't say violent, but I can't say I wasn't nervous about being spit at and accidentally going to first base with the wild one. As forceful as the camels were, they were nothing compared to the emus. Those little bird devils have eyes that see inside your soul and will make a grown man cry if they try and feed one. All in all, a wonderful experience at Eudora Safari Farms and I HIGHLY recommend an experience that one will never forget.

Besides being assaulted by a camel, we went rock climbing in Cherokee Rock Village. This is another unpublicized treasure and is hidden in the hills of Alabama. It's a secret little rock cove at the top of a mountain and home to the most fun outdoor climbing for all ages. If I hadn't been recovering from my fever dreams, I would never have left. Side note, don't sit behind a small coughing child whose mother  says to her husband, "Oh darn, I forgot to give Callum his antibiotics today. Oh well."

We have had one sad experience so far, and I want to take a moment to grieve the loss of a cherished baby blanket. I always do hotel room sweeps before we leave, but when your youngest says "how did you not see it? I hid it in a drawer.", it makes sense why it now currently lives in Alabama. Despite our best efforts at recovering it, it seems to have disappeared into the night and become one with the drawers of Fairfield Inn. We will miss you Blankie, and I do hope you find a second life with another small child to love.
